Laure Albin-Guillot Biography

Born in Paris, Laure Albin-Guillot (1879-1962) began her career photographing microscopic images, which she called “micrographs,” for her husband, who was a researcher. She also shot fashion photographs, portraits of celebrities, including Paul Valéry, Colette, Anna de Noailles and Jean Cocteau, as well as nudes. Her early portraits were pictorialist in style; later on, she became known for her striking frame choices, sometimes incorporating poetry.
